### Credit & Billing Alert Notifications

Exotel sends proactive alerts to help you manage your account balance and avoid service interruptions.

- **For prepaid accounts**, alerts remind you to **refill credits** before your balance runs low.
- **For postpaid accounts**, alerts notify you to **make a payment** before your outstanding bill crosses the **credit limit threshold**.

Both events are important and require your attention.

You can set your preferred reminder frequency directly from the [Notification Settings](http://my.exotel.in/Exotel/notifications) page.

### Things to Know

- **Billing cycle:** Exotel bills accounts once per month.
  - The maximum reminder duration you can set is **30 days**.
  - For example, if you set 30 days, Exotel will start sending reminders **the day after your bill is generated**, prompting you to pay for the upcoming month.
- **Default reminder period:** 4 days.
- **Delivery method:**
  All billing-related alerts are sent via **email and SMS** to all account admins.
- **Frequency:**
  Reducing the alert duration to **1 day** means you’ll receive the notification **only once per billing cycle** (the day before your account reaches the credit limit or your balance becomes zero).
- **Custom preferences per admin:**
  Each admin can configure their own alert duration.
  For example, your **accounts team** may want reminders earlier than the **CEO**.
- **Predictive algorithm:**
  Exotel uses a predictive model to estimate when your account might reach a **low balance or credit limit**.
  This prediction is based on your past usage.
  - If your usage suddenly spikes or fluctuates heavily, the prediction accuracy may reduce.
  - Treat this alert as a **proactive indicator**, not an exact forecast.
