## Overview

By default, Exotel Contact Center agents can access their workspace from any location using a shared Exotel domain (e.g., in1.cc.exotel.com). While convenient, organizations with strict data security and compliance requirements often need tighter control over where and how their data is accessed.

**Custom Domain and IP Whitelisting** is an advanced security feature designed to protect your Exotel workspace from unauthorized access and data leakage. It allows you to lock down your contact center environment so that agents can only log in via a dedicated custom domain and when connected to a trusted network—such as a physical office or a secure corporate VPN.

### Key Features & Benefits

- **Dedicated Workspace Domain:** Move away from the generic login portal. Your team will access Exotel via a custom, tenant-specific subdomain (e.g., yourcompany.exotel.com).
- **Strict IP Whitelisting:** Enforce network-level security. Your workspace will only accept traffic from a pre-approved "Allowlist" of IP addresses, automatically blocking login attempts originating from outside your trusted networks.
- **Compliance Readiness:** Easily meet industry regulations and internal security policies regarding data privacy and authorized access.

### How It Works

Once configured is activated for a tenant:

**User Experience:**

1. **Access:** Contact Center users navigate to your new dedicated URL (e.g., yourcompany.exotel.com).
2. **Verification:** The system instantly verifies that the user belongs to the tenant associated with the custom domain and checks their network connection against your IP Allowlist.
3. **Approved Login:** If connected to an approved office network or VPN, the user logs in normally and accesses the workbench.
4. **Blocked Login:** If the user is off-network (e.g., home Wi-Fi, public cafe) or attempts to use the generic shared domain, the login is immediately blocked.

### Important Considerations

:::BlockQuote
**Static IPs Required:** To use the IP Whitelisting feature effectively, your organization must use Static Public IPs. If your internet service provider dynamically rotates your IP addresses, your agents may inadvertently lose access when the IP changes.

### How to Enable and Manage

Because setting up a custom subdomain and IP rules requires precise configuration to ensure your agents are not accidentally locked out, the initial setup and ongoing management are handled entirely by the Exotel team.

To enable Enterprise Access Control for your workspace or to update your existing IP Allowlist, please reach out to *Exotel Support* or your *Customer Success Manager (CSM)*. They will guide you through the process and help secure your tenant.
