**Exotel AgentStream** is a real-time voice streaming service that connects live phone calls (PSTN or SIP) to your AI systems or bots over the internet.

- In **unidirectional streaming**, AgentStream sends audio **one way** — from the customer’s phone leg to your application.
  - Use case: transcription, analytics, passive monitoring, or recording.
- In **bidirectional streaming**, AgentStream sends audio **both ways** — customer speech is streamed to your bot, and your bot’s responses are streamed back into the live call.
  - Use case: interactive voicebots, agent assist, real-time translation, or conversational AI.

In simple terms:

- **Unidirectional = listen only.**
- **Bidirectional = listen + talk.**

AgentStream gives you the flexibility to pick either mode depending on whether you just need **call insights** or a **conversational AI experience**.

This guide outlines how to enable and use Exotel’s AgentStream(aka Voice Streaming) capabilities via the Voicebot Applet or Stream Applet. These voice streaming applets allow real-time audio streaming between your customer calls and bot platforms over WebSocket.
