# Overview

The chatbot platform provides an enhanced multilingual experience across **NLP, AI Agent, and RAG (ExoMind)** powered conversations.

Users can seamlessly interact with multilingual bots using a combination of manual language selection and automatic language detection, ensuring a more consistent experience throughout the conversation, regardless of the underlying bot engine.

This enhancement unifies language handling across guided NLP flows and AI-generated responses, giving users greater control over their preferred language while improving consistency across hybrid chatbot journeys.

## What's New

### Unified Language Support

Multilingual capabilities are now available across:

- NLP Bots
- AI Agent Bots
- RAG (ExoMind)
- Hybrid Bots (NLP + AI Agent + RAG)

The selected language is maintained throughout the conversation, providing a consistent user experience across all bot interactions.

### Language Switcher

For bots configured with multiple languages, a language switcher is available throughout the conversation.

Users can change their preferred language at any time. The chatbot updates its interface and continues the conversation using the newly selected language.

For right-to-left (RTL) languages such as Arabic, the chatbot automatically updates its layout and message formatting to provide a native conversational experience.

### Automatic Language Detection

The chatbot can detect when a user begins communicating in a different supported language than the one currently selected.

When a language mismatch is detected, the chatbot asks whether the user would like to switch to the detected language.

- If the user confirms, the conversation continues using the newly selected language.
- If the user declines, the chatbot continues using the current language and remembers this preference for the remainder of the session to avoid repeatedly asking the same question.

### Consistent Experience Across AI and NLP

Language preferences are maintained across:

- Guided NLP journeys
- AI Agent conversations
- RAG (ExoMind) responses
- Hybrid bot experiences

This provides a more predictable multilingual experience regardless of how the response is generated.

## Example User Experience

1. The user starts the conversation in English.
2. During the conversation, the user sends a message in Arabic.
3. The chatbot detects the language difference and asks if the user would like to switch to Arabic.
4. If the user selects **Yes**, the chatbot updates the conversation language, switches the interface to RTL, and continues the conversation in Arabic.
5. If the user selects **No**, the chatbot continues in English and does not prompt for another language switch during the current session.

## Benefits

- Supports multilingual conversations across NLP, AI Agent, and RAG journeys.
- Gives users direct control over their preferred language.
- Automatically detects supported language changes during conversations.
- Provides a consistent multilingual experience across hybrid chatbot journeys.
- Supports native RTL and LTR layouts based on the selected language.
- Reduces language inconsistencies across AI-generated and guided conversations.
- Improves the overall multilingual experience without requiring users to restart the conversation.

## How to Use

1. Configure multiple languages for the chatbot (Settings > Developer Settings > Add Languages)
2. Enable language detection for the desired channel. (Integrations > Web > Add Language to your channel > Enable Auto Detection)
3. Users can either:
   - Select a preferred language using the language switcher, or
   - Continue naturally, allowing the chatbot to detect supported language changes and offer to switch when appropriate.

No additional action is required from end users beyond selecting or confirming their preferred language.

## Notes

- Automatic language detection is supported only for languages configured on the chatbot.
- If a user chooses not to switch languages, that preference is remembered for the current session.
- AI responses continue to be generated by the configured AI model and prompts, while the platform maintains a consistent multilingual experience through language management and UI rendering.
- Automatic language detection and translation validation may introduce a small increase in response time as part of providing a more reliable multilingual experience.
