2 min
in an effort to clamp down on scams using sms and the spoofing of sender ids, the infocomm media development authority of singapore (“imda”) requires organizations which send or intend to send sms messages with alphanumeric sender ids (i e sms labels with alphabets or a combination of alphabets and numbers) need to register their sender ids with the singapore sms sender id registry ("ssir") by 31 january 2023 failing to do so would not cause sms to immediately fail, but they would go with generic sender id or marked as "likely scam" the consequences of failing to register are as follows from 31 january 2023 to 31 july 2023 (“transition period”), all non registered sms sender ids will be channeled to a sender id with the header "likely scam" after the transition period, all non registered sms sender ids will be blocked and will no longer be delivered to the intended recipients to register, an organization will need a local unique entity number, as issued by relevant government agencies, and must first create an account on the ssir portal once the account has been approved, the organization will be able to log in and reserve their preferred sender ids the ssir will assign sender ids on a first come first served basis if customer does not have uen number then they can use microsms (generic id) and use the services by sharing the required declarations if the customer has uen number and wants to register their own sender id and also spend on costs as per ssir regulations (upfront s$500 + yearly renewal) they can select our partners who are already "participating aggregator" following order of listed participating aggregator to be selected 1\ microcloud 2\ 8x8 3 cmt guidelines brand names should be linked to the company name/brand/identity to easily identify the sms sender and included in the text content must not be derogatory, political, pornographic, fraudulent in nature content must adhere to singapore's rules on propriety, and content restriction and laws as applicable no urls allowed exotel reserves the right to reject or block messages at its discretion the details on ssir can be found here please connect with us using the chat widget on your exotel dashboard or whatsapp us on 08088919888 faq’s what will be the impact on the current sms traffic towards singapore? current traffic will not be affected, however from 31st january 2023 all unregistered senders will be changed to "likely scam" by the end operator does this apply for local and international sms routes? yes, it is applicable for both can an india entity register for the uen number required for sender id registration? yes, please refer to this to learn more https //sgnic sg/faq/sms sender id registry where to perform the sender id registration for singapore? please visit this link to start the registration https //smsregistry sg/web/login
